    Preterm Labor Symptoms

During the last trimester of my pregnancy, I started not feeling very well most of the time. I was always tired, I wasn’t sleeping well, and I was just all around feeling pretty crappy. In most cases, these symptoms are usually normal third trimester stuff. However, at 33 weeks and 5 days pregnant, I began to experience some preterm labor symptoms. I was experiencing some spotting that morning so I called my doctor and they were able to schedule me in later that day. Shortly before my appointment I passed my mucous plug. When I saw my doctor that day I told him that I thought I passed my plug…

    Surviving the 1st Trimester

The first trimester is rough! I’m sure that many of you have heard about it or experienced it first hand. From nausea to vomiting to exhaustion, those first 12 weeks certainly take their toll on you, so I wanted to share some things that helped me make it through. First lets talk about nausea, AKA morning sickness. I felt sick pretty much ALL DAY EVERY DAY! However, it wasn’t a “hovering over the toilet” type of sick feeling, more of just an uneasy stomach. I was fortunate to only throw up twice (one time back to back) but luckily I didn’t have anything in my stomach to throw up so…

    How We Got Pregnant

After getting our house somewhat settled after remodeling and repairs, we decided that we were going to start trying to get pregnant. There was just one problem… how would we afford daycare? The average cost of daycare in Southern California is about $1000 per month; did I really want to spend $12,000 a year to have a stranger raise my baby? Absolutely not! But how could we afford for me to be a stay-at-home mom? Well the answer is, we couldn’t. Not in California anyways. So the first step to getting pregnant was that we decided that we were moving to Arizona!! The second step to getting pregnant was getting…

    Plumbing Nightmare!

During our remodel process, we knew that our plumbing needed some work. Well a lot of work. Our kitchen/laundry drain line hadn’t functioned properly for years. When it got really bad, water would back up into the kitchen sink when we were running the washing machine. Gotta love houses built in the 1960’s with cast iron drain lines! We had found some receipts for the repair of the drain line from the city to the opposite side of the house, so we thought that we had an idea of what to expect price-wise and budgeted $8,000 for it. Then our hot water tank started leaking, so although it was a…

    Remodeling our home

My husband and I were very fortunate to inherit our home in Southern California, however, the house was in need of significant repairs and remodeling.  So before we could think about having babies, we needed to get our house in order. This started our very first adventure into “real” adulting. Yes, we had lived on our own in an apartment before and had been responsible for our own bills, but none of that compared to homeownership. Our first project that we tackled together was our kitchen and flooring throughout the house. We entered into the remodel world naive and unaware of how much work would need to be done, how…

    Hi Guys!

For those of you who don’t know me personally, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am currently 6 months pregnant with my first child and I could not be more excited!! I have been married to my wonderful husband for almost 8 years and we are so blessed to be taking this next step in our lives, however, we had to make quite a few adjustments to get here, so let me back up a bit… I had been living in Southern California since I was six years old and my husband was born and raised there. We met when I was a senior in high…
